Private Shoreline & Kayaks · Åkersberga
You've arrived at one of Stockholm's quieter corners — 35 minutes from the city, a world away in atmosphere. Lake Ruggen sits just beyond the door. Here's everything you need to settle in.
We built this little house to be a proper escape — close enough to Stockholm to be convenient, far enough away to actually feel it. The lake is the heart of it. There's something about a morning on the water, before anyone else is awake, that resets everything. We hope you find that here. Make yourselves at home.
The address is Roslagsvägen 202, 184 93 Åkersberga. Use Google Maps or Apple Maps — search exactly as written and it will take you directly to the entrance. If you're arriving by public transport, see the Getting Here section below.

Lake Ruggen is on your doorstep — calm, clean, and extraordinarily quiet. The shoreline is yours to use freely throughout your stay.
A full-length kayak is available for guests. Paddles and life jackets are stored alongside it at the shoreline. Perfect for exploring the lake at your own pace — it's larger than it looks from the bank.
Two SUP paddleboards are available. Whether you prefer to stand and glide or simply sit and drift, the lake is ideal — minimal current, beautiful reflections, complete calm.
A small rowing boat is also available for guests. A lovely way to spend an early morning or a quiet evening on the water.
Wade straight in from the shoreline — no jetty required, no rocky entry. The water is clean and the lake warms beautifully through summer. The wooden dock is also ideal for sunbathing between swims.

A small selection of places we'd personally recommend — locally in Åkersberga and up the road in Norrtälje.
A reliable Åkersberga favourite — relaxed atmosphere, well-executed menu. A good first-night choice.
In Norrtälje. Honest, well-cooked food in a warm setting. Worth the drive north.
Also in Norrtälje. A more refined room and menu — pair with an afternoon wandering the old town.
You are ideally placed for some of Sweden's most extraordinary landscapes. These are our personal recommendations.
The unofficial capital of the Stockholm archipelago and one of Sweden's most charming small towns. Colourful wooden houses line the waterfront, boats fill the harbour, and the café terraces are perfect for long summer afternoons. The 16th-century fortress sits on its own island in the sound, reached by a short ferry crossing. Walk the old quarter, have lunch by the water, and let the pace slow right down.
A beautifully preserved Swedish summer town with a quaint old centre, cobbled streets, and an easy, unhurried atmosphere. The harbour area comes alive in summer with market stalls and outdoor dining. Norrtälje has developed a quietly excellent restaurant scene in recent years — well worth taking the time to find a good table and linger. A thoroughly pleasant half-day or full day out.
The broader Roslagen coastline — stretching north from Åkersberga along the Baltic fringe — is one of Sweden's most rewarding drives. Rocky shorelines give way to forest, small fishing villages, island ferries, and manor estates. There's no single destination: the pleasure is in wandering. Pack a picnic, take a map, and follow roads toward the water. You'll find something worth stopping for every few kilometres.
One of Europe's most beautiful capitals is on your doorstep. Gamla Stan (the Old Town) is a medieval island of amber and ochre façades, winding alleys, and the Royal Palace. Östermalm and Södermalm offer world-class restaurants, design shops, and galleries. The archipelago ferry terminals on Strandvägen open up the entire island chain. Whether you want a cultural day, a serious dinner, or simply to walk along the water — Stockholm delivers without effort.
A car is strongly recommended — both for the journey here and for making the most of the surrounding area. Having a car opens up Roslagen, Vaxholm, Norrtälje, and the archipelago roads at your own pace.
From Stockholm city centre, take the E18 north then Roslagsvägen (Route 276) toward Åkersberga. Total journey: approximately 35 minutes depending on traffic. Free parking on site.
Approximately 45 minutes by car via E4/E18. A hire car from Arlanda is a convenient option if you're arriving by air.
Take the Roslagsbanan from Tekniska Högskolan to Åkersberga station (~40 min), then connect to a local bus — check the SL app for timetables. There is no walking route from the station. A taxi from Åkersberga station is a practical alternative.
